Thredbo Historical Society is a voluntary heritage, cultural and social organization - consisting of over 180 members. This group manages and operates the Thredbo Alpine Museum with its evocative snow sports collection.

  • Preserves the history of Australian snow sports

  • Promotes community awareness of Australia’s snow sports heritage

  • Is responsible for the displaying and conserving a nationally representative winter sports collection

  • Developing a snow sports museum of national significance

  • Exists as a community-based organization

  • Provides social activities for members

 

The community can engage with the Thredbo Historical Society and Museum through –

  • Visiting the Thredbo Alpine Museum

  • Becoming a member of the society to support their objectives of preserving the history of Australian skiing and snowsports and the development of Thredbo Village and ski resort

  • Participating  by attending our social functions and talks

  • Receiving informative quarterly Newsletters

  • Contributing acquisitions to the significant multidimensional collection

  • Offering to volunteer to assist in manning and opening the museum to the public

  • Located off the Village square, below the Kosciuszko Room adjacent to the Information Centre.
